Blind help me out. Talking to a recruiter this week. Series D startup TC: $250 / 15% / 400k stock
Isn't it a rule that recruiters can't ask for your current comp? If you want to negotiate an offer, it's on you to get competing offers and present to them
In CA they dont ask your current comp They ask what you expect to make All in the wording and the need to have a slick answer still exists.
Tops out at 450k in the Bay Area for PMs. Engineers make much more at the same level.
Doesnt sound right
Levels.fyi has much higher #s.. Would anyone in L6 at GCP please chime in?
Amazon comment was BS
I had a call for L4 - the recruiter did not ask about total comp. we just talked background and interest and interview process. Ultimately I decided I’m not as interested in cloud so I ended the process but that’s another story. You also shouldn’t share your comp expectations at the beginning bc it locks you into a certain bracket when they may have been willing to give you more
Thanks, just want to be prepared in case the question does come up.
You should say I prefer to discuss comp later, first figure out if this is a good fit etc
