How’s the work life balance in GCP? Compared to the rest of google, and in general? Also, how’s the oncall load? Coming from Amazon, got past hiring committee, looking at team fit. #google TC: 400
🍿 🍿
Lots of 🍿
People voted popcorn because you didn’t have 10-20 hours as an option lmao.
Really that little eh? In google cloud even?
It’s all org and team specific. Like I know some Amazon teams have good WLB and light oncall. Same thing.
My org can easily be 30 hrs. Sometimes that catches up to you or a customer changes requirements and you have to pull 50 to get something to GA but that's not the usual.
I thought Google was supposed to be a tenured country club drowning in advertising revenue?!
That’s what I took 🍿 to mean. I’m a new hire, but I haven’t had a 40 hour week at google.
I don’t work there but the team match call I had with gcp had alarm bells going in my head. The manager seemed desperate to hire and would be dodgy around questions about on call. He looked tired af. This was just one team but the call along with the rumblings of culture issues in gcp had me ask to recruiter to not include gcp in my calls

I am starting to think Chinese interviewers currently fail non-Chinese candidates on purpose.
For those who put >50 - was it because you had to for deadlines, or because you wanted to?
