I have a Google engineering manager on-site interview coming up. YOE 9 (3 as EM). Currently Sr. EM leading 20 person org. What are my chances of getting leveled as L6 vs L5 at Google? TC: 340k
9YOE, L5 is the best they will give you. G looks at YOE when they assign a level to you.
Not sure about that, I personally know a few people got L5 Google offer with 3 yoe, but as an engineer
External hires for Management at G require management experience. With the management ladder the YoE effectively resets. Less than 2 years of Management experience is pretty much a direct line to L5. Being said, not sure if 3 years in management will mean much to get him to L6. It may, but it could also means heβs borderline with L5 if his interview performance isnβt spot on.
You can get L6 but you need to ace interviews. The 3 years of experience might bite you, because itβs the lower level of the 3-5 yoe as manager that Google demands
Is that 3-5 yoe a hard requirement for L6? The JD doesn't say 3-5
I think so, however exceptions always exist for stellar profiles
What's the onsite for Google EM like for L5/L6? Ratio of System Design/Coding/Behavioural?
I was told 1 coding, 2 SD, 2 behavioral
Thank you.
@OP, how were the interviews? Did you end up getting an L5 or a L6 offer?
Is Google L5 EM equivalent to a Google L5 SWE? Or L6 SWE?
Never disclose your TC. That's only L5. I'm pretty sure not what you want
Would you recommend not disclosing TC (300-400k) even if you think you'll get leveled at L4?
Well, from EM of 20 people to L5 sounds underwhelming to me
