Hey all

I find myself in a bit of a strange situation.

I applied for a APM position at Google and was informed from the recruiter that my interview performance was excellent throughout all interviews but that I could not be assigned to a team.

As things stand, I 'may be matched to another team in another country' but I personally feel as if though #that's unlikely.

I wanted to know if any of you have heard of something like this before?

Is this just Google's of rejecting a candidate without providing harsh feedback?

Thanks

Heard it before. Is it two month already after the offer?

dog-lover, are you sure they actively match for 2 months? And is this for all roles or just OP-specific?

  • I mean it makes sense. What value do APMs provide?

Lol Ok, but then why hire in the first place?

  • sorry to hear this, I hope they end up finding you a team.

is this for the APM role in the US? would you mind sharing what your timeline was for interviews? I received a form to fill out with my availability for a phone interview a little more than a week ago, but nobody has reached out to me after that, so I’m curious how long it took for your 1st phone call?

Not in the US. Applied online and first round after 2 weeks. Final round the week after. Communication of decision 2 weeks later.

      Good luck!

It happened to me but after the phone screen (smaller office here). No team fit so didn't proceed on to onsite, unfortunately. I was ready to nail it too. :(

That sucks. I'm sorry to hear - I find it strange that this could happen... Surely they should check with their teams if there is a hiring need / if the candidates CV is a suitable fit before interviewing them

Sorry to hear this. Did you get this in writing?

Also, do you have contacts at Google whom you can speak to? Talk to someone close and find someone senior. Use LinkedIn's feature where it tells you that you're an 'nth' degree connection

Thanks for your reply. No, I received it verbally - I do have someone on the inside but they're not very senior
