I've completed all interviews for a sales/presales engineer position at Google. They had me re-do the GCA one to get a better result, which I then aced after spending a week researching McKinsey and Bain case interviews. I did two of the five interviews with what I think is the manager of the team I'll be on, and the second CGA with the overall head of the regional sales engineering team. Overall, I the feedback I received was that I did very well, and I get the distinct feeling that the two people I mentioned above would have hired me on the spot. But, of course due process must be followed, thus accelerated hiring committee for me. I'm an experienced hire in a niche field, an autodidact with no fancy higher education behind me. I've moved companies a lot (due to working in a niche field), but with every new job I got a more senior position. I've heard that Google cares more about how you behave during interviews than what you've done in the past, is this true? I've had many other silicon valley companies take one look at my CV and go "nope!", sometimes even lecturing on how I must be a bad person because I've moved around a lot (my past companies have been nasty consulting bodyshops, where you work like a dog on extremely complex projects, often on your own and with no support, which is also kind of why I'm good at what I do, I learnt it all by getting dropped off the deep end and figuring it out). Do I stand a chance with the HC? Will they look past my CV, and look at my long list of successful projects and publications as an industry analyst?
