Is it worth it to go for a residency program (and take that lower pay) directly after graduation from SJSU if you have ~4 years of exp within IT versus applying for full-time positions? I know most people are primarily in software but figured it didn't hurt to ask.
Nice
Is this program just for recent grads? I'm a technical PM with 9 years work experience but I like google's mission and would step down from my current level to get in this program
It's for new graduates. If you have more than two years experience, you are not eligible.
75k? Bay Area? π
intern pay for a year, but a useful way around a deeply flawed interview process. if you're a recent graduate, it's a pretty amazing opportunity (IMHO)
Do it. Don't pretend you'll be converted though. Learn as much as possible, then go elsewhere. Normal jobs don't teach you much.

That 75 is more than I'm making now by a landslide, should be able to make it work. I thought the programs had a higher retention/"graduation" rate though?
Yeah I'm in the bay area. didn't know most converted to COE, interesting. primary thing is getting google on the resume though, for sure, as well as just getting the hell out of desktop support. Ty for the info π
