I keep seeing posts on LC about ppl passing Google interviews after doing 700-900 LC for 6-8 months.

I was just wondering if anyone has passed Google interview by just doing blind75/CTCI/EPI? do I need to do hundreds of LC qs to pass Google?

I ask “LC Hard” (it’s not on LC)
It’s counterintuitive but the best candidates obviously have not done a lot of leetcode.

No you absolutely don't need 700-900. I did around 50 right before the interview and around 50 over a few years before.
I consider myself ready when I can solve and code a new medium problem within 20-25 minutes.

    • Just got an offer from G, Amazon, + a hypergrowth, and I basically did the same as above. However, the prerequisite is that you must feel fluent in your chosen language.

Also, you really need to know what you are looking for. If you want only Google it is one thing. I did not really care about company name and had other criteria.

So, instead of wasting time and solving 100+ problems I just had over 10 on-sites within a month. It was way more efficient to meet my goals this way.

your google interviewers will look up your lc profile and blacklist if you have < 500 solved. no one in the history of the universe has cracked google with under 100 lc. is that the answer you were looking for?

It's not about the quantity of problems you solve. You need to be thorough with the concepts. Doesn't really matter if you have solved 50 or 500 LC. Yeah you might just get lucky if you get asked "exact" problem that you solved beforehand but that's why there are multiple rounds of interviews.

I mean if you were to know just the 12-15 graph theory algorithms, and just do one question each of those types, you’re pretty much only left with 35 now, there’s like 100 algorithms at the minimum to master, I don’t understand the argument of “50 is enough”

  • Passed google (L5) with just blind 75 and some small number of others and reading. Recruiter did tell me I was borderline on DS&A when hiring committee reviewed me, but was good enough to pass so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Really depends on your LC skill. See if you can solve a few LC mediums unseen in 30 minutes. Google won’t ask LC questions directly.
