Hey, I recently interviewed with Google for Machine Learning Software engineer and done with team matching. I am expecting the hiring committee decision pretty soon (tomorrow) and would like to know more about the TC offered at Google Kirkland office. My bio: - Masters in CS specialized in ML - Working in Microsoft Redmond for last 1.5 years - Filed a patent while working ( this patent is in the related field I'll be joining in Google) - Microsoft Level 60 I think interviews went well and got a team match call from 3-4 teams. Compensation expectation: I m expecting a TC about 220k-250k. My current TC at Microsoft is 180k. Note: Before interview when recruiter asked me my expectations we agreed on 220k-230k TC but in MTV. We had a brief discussion on this during team match and he said that Kirkland TC might be less. BUT I insisted that I am looking (deserve) the discussed compensation ie 220k-230k. Q. What are your thoughts on the TC? Q. Are my expectations unreasonable? Q. Since I am working in a related field in Microsoft and have a patent I think that I deserve this? Thanks
Recruiters have no influence over comp, are you sure they didn’t just ask your expectation but they guaranteed that number if you got an offer?
They just asked the expectations. Can you throw some light on how is offer and TC decided? Who decides TC? Etc
If standard offer for that level is greater than your competing offers/current comp you get that. If not depends on a lot of factors on how high they go. You can't say "I want this much" without competing offers. They won't budge. Your comp at L60 looks higher than most L61s I know. Recruiters or comp committees know market trends. They might ask you for proof.
Hold on, L3 with 250k tc? Lolwut
OP how did it go? Also how was the ML interview?
Apparently, your TC expectations are correct. Any competing offers you have? And how many total rounds did you have? How many ML specific?
Nope. I have interviews lined up but no offer yet. Also do you know the division of this TC? I mean base and rsu?
I had 5 on-site interviews. 1 ML and 4 software.
