How demanding is Google L4? Do you need to contribute a lot at L4 or can you do your work/code and sail through? Advice from experienced folks?

Like you said, you just do your work/code and sail through and it's sufficient.
L5 is easier though. There is some pressure for promotion for L4s.
External or internal/personal? Bc L4 is terminal now right?
Internal G blind filled with L4s lamenting their failed promos. Pressure for sure isn't official, but some folks with 10+ YOE definitely don't like idea of being L4 when expectations for L5 are just slightly higher.
At Google the pressure doesn't come from the company or your manager - it comes from yourself. (As has been said on the thread) some people can chill at 10-20 hours a week and be happy. Some people are caught up in the promo / perf / TC obsession and work very hard.
Yoe?
just got promo from L3 to L4. I would say people put more pressure on themselves than Google does
L4, here. Google has such low expectations it's laughable.
Really do you think so?
I cannot fucking believe they pay me as much as they do for as little work as I put in (speaking as someone that used to work for Facebook)
