Higher TC upside 2. More interesting projects Reasons for staying at Google: 1. To not be downleveled (Google L5 maps to Instacart L6 at my YOE) 2. More TLM/EM opportunities, which is what I’d like to do long-term

Instacart is past it's best days. Not talking about the tech or type of work, but I doubt they will ever get a better opportunity than what they got last year. Find better options.
Could your elaborate? Sure, it would have been better to get in at previous valuations. Do you think IC won’t continue growing?

If you do decide on IC, your RSU can go up to 800 at least. At your YOE it is a down level but you can likely get L6 in ~1.5 years. You can also always get that signing bonus, see if the IPO and refresher works in your favor and decide 1 year in if you want to stay or go back to Google. I’d recommend talking to some ex Googlers we have and get their opinion, recruiter should be able to set up as many calls as you need.
if OP get L6 offer I wont say dont go. But dude, for those little comp bump take a downlevel offer, seriously? The point is the down level ! not compare instacart v.s google in project, comp, people etc.
Yea I’m not saying to go. I would only go in OP’s current position if I was unhappy with G and wanted a change in project or people I work with, etc. If that is the case, I am pointing out it’s not a terrible loss except in level’ing.
There was a post from a 1YOE fb engineer who got instacart L5 offer. This will be a huge downlevel..
