I recently interviewed with Google, a few days before the interview I asked the recruiter about the level for which they are considering my application. He told that they are considering it for L4 when I asked about L5 he said if I ace the interview, there are chances for L5 as well.
Now the interview is done, the recruiter told that all 5 rounds were positive and he is quite confident that the hiring committee will give `hire`. Should I ask him to put my packet for L5? If my feedback is not good enough for L5 but good for L4, will hiring committee give hire for L4 or just reject it because it's not good enough for L5?

Join as L4 and promote in 2 years.
It’s gonna be faster, because you’re not gonna get L5 even with 8 yoe.
Also, there are multiple degrees of "positive", and for L5 you'd probably need multiple strong positives vs. all 5 leaning positive.
