@google Getting an offer today for L6 Program Manager role (GCP) based in the bay area. This is a non technical role. My target comp is $190 base, 20% bonus and ~$600 in RSU, so $378K total comp. Is this attainable for a non-engineering role? I make less than this now, but will be relocating from a lower cost area to the Bay Area. 18 Yrs Exp.
Fix the title ... Program Manager = PgM ... PM = product manager TPM= Technical Program Manager Are you getting PM or PgM or TPM role?
In my very recent experience that would be a MASSIVE non tech offer
Following as well. I'm up for basically the same thing coming from the same place with my on site in a few weeks. My data showed 350-400 being attainable in the Bay
Candidates care more about cola than companies do. You won’t have a 4K sq foot house in the Bay Area. Competing offers is really what you want to help but that looks most likely unrealistic for role unless incredible experience
I determined I'd need 30% more just to account for taxes, and would need 40-60% minimum to make it worth moving with CoL change. Made that abundantly clear and they didn't seem to have any issue with it. Puts things right in the 350 range
High end of L6 PgM comp, but possible.
More attainable for TPgM, but not impossible
@OP , did Google match your expectations?
A relevant question, are you a people manager in your current role? Is the new offer for a people manager role?

For program manager seems reasonable
I'm not saying it's bad, but stock is the only thing that moves there with this offer.
