MTV Pros - More interesting projects/teams and better brand - Opportunity for more independence and growth Seattle/Kirkland Pros - Friends, family, gf are all from Seattle (we’re all Seattle natives and I am the only one that can move to MTV) - Housing and food would be “free” since I’d be living with parents, so overall cost of living would be a lot lower The above are some of the criteria that make it hard for me to decide. Given all of this, what would you guys pick? Tl;dr does the brand/breadth of projects in MTV outweigh living far from my loved ones and not having as much family financial support? TC: 0 YoE: 0
Offer TC breakdown?
Didn’t get offer yet, but having onsite soon and recruiter asked where I preferred to work
For anyone starting out their career - Always go to mothership and/or Silicon Valley. It’s best for long term career and better opportunities. Since you have family here you can always move back once you have some experience and some good projects on your resume.
If you find an interesting project/good team in WA, go there. Being closely to family is priceless
You're a new grad. You'll get opportunities in the future to make and save money. Choose the road less traveled when you are young and move to the Bay Area. When you hate it in a few years you can always move back.
You’re an adult about to make a lot of money. It’s time to move out.
You'll save so much
Go to Seattle, save money living at home for a year or two, then move if it still feels right.
