Google NYC - Wait for team matching, or go to Facebook?

Hi all, I'm in a sticky situation and could use some advice. So I passed the Google hiring committee as an L4 last week, and now moved on to team matching. However, the recruiter told me there's low headcount so there might be a delay in getting matched with a team. At the same time, I have a similar FB offer in hand. Here's my dilemma: I'd prefer taking the job at Google, but I don't want to decline the FB offer only to never get past team matching at Google. I've read some stories where people sit in team matching for months and never end up getting matched with a team. So here are my questions if anybody can give me some insight! 1 - Anybody in the Google NYC office? How low are headcounts right now? 2 - Is it true that some people never get matched with a team? And bonus question: 3 - Any tips in getting time with the FB recruiter? How long are they usually willing to wait Any help is much appreciated! Edit: One of the reasons I prefer Google is all the stories about tough WLB at FB, which is very important to me. But if it's not that bad at FB NYC please let me know! #google #nyc #headcount #teammatching #l4google #facebook

Not affiliated to G or Fb in any way, but my buddy had to wait for ~9 months to get done with team matching. Searching over blind shows similar stories. I don’t think fb will let you buy that kind of time to decide. Just my $0.02.

Ah that's what I was afraid of. I was considering working at FB for a year while completing team matching and moving to Google after that, but I don't know how feasible that is.

Go for Facebook. If you hate your job, reapply next year to Google.

I'm thinking about doing that....any idea if I'd have to re-interview with Google next year?

You probably will have to reinterview, but you’ll likely be even better at Leetcode by then!

Start with Facebook... A job in hand is greater than any future promises

I put off my G NYC onsite for this reason, but the recruiter told me you have to get team matched in 5 weeks or you don't get an offer... How do people spend months in team match??? How does that make any sense? I also heard conflicting things, my friends at G NYC say their teams are hiring, but the recruiter said they couldn't find any hiring managers who wanted me yet, but expected more spots to open up soon.

by the time G finishes team matching you'll be at FB for 1 year
