So I have an offer from Google. The location is Southern California (not gonna say where becuase the cost of living is pretty comparable between the branches IMO). Unfortunately, I think they're low-balling me super hard. YoE: 3 years Level: T3 Base: 105k Bonus: 15% RSU: 90k over 4 years TC: ~143k Now part of this is my fault since I gave them a range first (130-140k), but I think I can negotiate up to 150-155k based on my current experience level. Any thoughts? If they won't budge on salary, would it possible to increase vacation days?
That base is newgrad tier wtf. RSUs should be tripled.
You really think they should be trippled? The cost of living in socal really isn't comparable to SF or Seattle, so I think that would factor in..
This is a pretty bad offer for west coast. Negotiate!
Is this a SWE offer?
Yes it is.
Yo I got an offer in SoCal as well, 2.5 yoe. Base $120K Signon $30K Bonus 15% RSU: ~$240-250K over 4y (exact amount eludes me) TC year one: $225K TC years after (since no signon): $195K I am coming from Amazon, but you were still lowballed hard. Negotiate for a 10K base raise and double those RSUs at the very least. Vacation days are pretty standard, and I don't think you'd be able to negotiate unless you were a high level.
This is awesome info. Thanks so much for the numbers. Did you have any competing offers at the time?
Are you SDE 1 or 2 in Amazon?
3 years of experience should make you l4 now.
Not really.
Got the same offer for Seattle as a new grad returning intern. Negotiated with competing offers.
looks like new grad L3 salary.
its hard to negociate without compete
Where do you work right now?
Not even close to a Big 4 or Unicorn. The name is well known but it isn't even on the Blind company list 😂
Then accept the offer.
