Hi All, First of all, I would like to thank the entire TeamBlind community for helping me throughout my MAANG journey. With the support from the community and some much-required preparation (Oh there was loads), I managed to crack interviews for Program and Product Management roles with Meta, Amazon, and Google. I have recently joined Amazon as a Senior Technical Program Manager with a 1st year TC of ~395K (starting in Atlanta). I recently received an offer from Google for a Program Manager role. However, the initial compensation that they have offered is significantly lower than Amazon. The offer is around 266K without any negotiations for the Atlanta area. I plan to start the negotiations sometime this week. I was hoping to get some advice on what would be a good ballpark to negotiate with them considering traditionally they do not move much on the numbers is what I heard. Any inputs would be welcome. Thank you all! #Google #programmanager #Amazon #productmanagement #MAANG #compensation
That's a great Sr Tpm offer from Amazon. Could you share the split? Did you have a strong competing offer that they beat?
Sure please DM me, i will give you the details
Without knowing additional details on role/level, difficult to comment. But Google Program Manager comp is lower than TPM comp from what I have seen. Also, Google is known to down level. If it's L5, it may be a stretch to beat Amzn 395k TC even with the RSU front loading. Yet best approach might still be to start negotiations with your current TC as an anchor point and see where they meet.
Hi guys, really looking for some help here, what is a good percentage increase to ask from Google considering my offer at Amazon. Any inputs would be welcome. Same guy who posted the initial query. I just updated my username :)
Congrats. OP do you mind sharing your background and what did you do at DT?
I was working in DT as a Sr. Con focusing on Enterprise Performance Strategy and Implementation projects. Also worked on GTM strategy initiatives.
Can I DM you? I worked for DT as well and have been wanting to get PM role at FAANG. Applied for so many roles. No response.
The role was a mix of system design and core LPs. But during the LPs too they asked few end to end system based questions.
Btw just an update to everyone. I am still waiting to hear back from the recruiter, I provided her my location preference and was supposed to start my negotiations but she hasn't responded back yet. Not sure if I have been ghosted or this is generally how the Google recruiting process works!
In my experience, Google is a bit slow
The Google recruiter reached out and the initial offer is close to 35% less than my current TC at Amazon. I am willing to negotiate and settle for a slightly less TC but this seems a big dip for me. She said she can negotiate for me and get a better offer but needs me to share with her my current offer letter from Amazon. Is this a regular practice that Google recruiters follow ? Is it fine to share offer letter with them?
Yeah apparently it’s common they make you send offer letters
Hey OP - any updates on negotiation here? Also could you provide details on what level the role at google is and how many yoe you have? Congrats on the offer!
