Google Offer

May 1 14 Comments

Just got a verbal offer from Google, in NC, after going back and forth two times I am up to 164k first year and 144k for 2-4. This is for a cloud infrastructure engineer role

Base: 98k
Bonus: 14.7(15%)
RSU: 124k 4 years(25% each year)
Sign on: 20k

YOE: ~5

Seems kinda like they are trying to get me into L3 but at my current place I am Sr level so I was assuming I'd probably be L4. Any comments or suggestions?

  • Seems low, not to mention at google. Don’t take it. You don’t want to be switching jobs a lot. Find a better position with good pay

    • I mean technically TC is better than current company since they only pay base and bonus. But yeah I was just wondering if it would be good idea to go from Sr to L3

    • I agree that working at google will open doors for you, but from experience you’ll be second guessing your decision until you leave. You probably know at this point if you have a chance at another FAANG or a reputable company with a better pay. If you take this job, and leave before the four years, your TC is much less.
I should also add, take my advice with a grain of salt, the “FB or AMZN” knows google and work there, I don’t

This is definitely an L3 offer.

Sr positions at all companies are not comparable. L3 or L4 depends on your interview performance

Why dont you at least write what role you got the offer for? I mean how are supposed to guess did you get in as a receptionist at Google or a SWE?

You should check with your recruiter about the level. It’s very depressing joining as L3 with that many yoe, it’s new grad level.

I was in a similar position, in the end joined FB as E4, still feel somewhat down leveled.
