Completely bombed a coding round during my onsite(wrote working code but only with lots of help). Did good on other rounds (was able to arrive at working code with optimized solution). Do i still have a chance if this goes to HC?
I had the same experience, I bombed one and was not selected. How were the questions
Depends on how good your other round was and how bad the round was For eg I messed up one round and I got a lean no hire because I did other things well, my solution was wrong but my approach was correct so my interviewer wrote the positive things and gave me lean no hire. Rest of my interviews covered up for it as I had one strong hire and rest hires no lean hire so I passed hc but still didnt get L4. It is tough to say if your solution was the most optimized for me in one round I didnt give the most optimized solution which is extremely non trivial but I coded a slightly suboptimal solution and got very good ratings, so as an interviewee you never know how good or bad you were. My advice just let it go I know its easy to say but frankly it is outside your hands.
Op please tell us the outcome as soon as you know🙏🏻
If for L5 and above, It’s likely a reject
Cannot be for L5. Its all coding rounds
Unless you somehow have 4 other strong hires, you're done. Can't tell you how often I see this question. On average, you need to do better than good to be hired. How do you think a bomb in 1/5 impacts that.

If you bombed a coding round I’d probably say no, but sometimes it’s okay to fail the first time and then reapply 6mo to a year later knowing what to expect and then do better
