Someone please share prep guidance for a google pm interview success. I have been watching the questions/responses, but don't feel there is comprehensive info like what has been shared for engineers. I have had 2 rounds of phone interviews years back, and just one round more than a year ago. I want put everything and try 3rd and may be final time. In the past, I didn't prepare for coding/algorithms, but learned here that I need to do that as well (like LeetCode). I'm been a tech pm for 10 years, and been in many places. Before that a solutions arch/consultant in enterprise software, and java/c/c++ dev for enterprise sw. I consider to be hands on, but not anymore to a hard core dev. Started to refresh on HackerRank but will start LeetCode as well. For this reason I'm starting side projects to code as well. I will only go for cloud pm role as that has been my focus for last 6+ years and I see google is heavily focusing and growing in that area. I also notice they are posting Cloud PM roles which seems odd as google hires generalists and assigns them to specific teams like they do for engineers. I'm curios about this as well. I'm the first time, I think I did well in the two phone interviews where the focus was feature/market size etc. In the 2nd time I stumbled as the focus was on providing code level solution to particular problem / scenario. Past preps included: Cracking the pm interview,Gayle Laakkmann, Decode & Conquer- Lewis Lin Thank you in advance for genuine guidances. @google @amazon @microsoft

Dating for Marriage is Hard
About two years I interviewed for a Product Manager position with Google. I did not get an offer so take this with a grain of salt. I had a screening called followed by a phone interview then a day long series of interviews onsite at the Googplex. A recruiter reached out to me through LinkedIn. After the screening call with the recruiter, I talked with some former coworkers that were at Google. One of them put in a recommendation for me so I'm sure that helped a lot. The recruiter was very good at helping me prepare. Here are some of the resources he suggested: The Algorithm Design Manual (by Steven Skiena) Business Model Generation (by Alexander Osterwalder) Cracking the PM Interview (by Jackie Bavard) The Design of Everyday Things (by Don Norman) Escape Velocity (by Geoffrey Moore) Here are some other resources I found helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CshJxTcsgvo - a webinar by the "Cracking the PM Interview" author. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynQasjpBTCk - the author of "Business Model Generation" giving a talk at Google http://www.glassdoor.com/Interview/Google-Product-Manager-Interview-Questions-EI_IE9079.0,6_KO7,22.htm - lots of good sample questions During my onsite, I had lunch with a Googler that was a bit less formal than the interviews. He said that in the five or six lunches he had with candidates so far, none had been hired. Of the people they interview for PM positions, less than 10% are hired. Best of luck!
Thank you, useful info especially the last part! I'm familiar with some of the resources and googling earlier found quite a few recent blogs/postings by some people. I would love to hear from others about their recent experiences.
Would you mind sharing the type of questions on phone screen round and later please.
