Anticipating an offer soon and recruiter asked me for ball park compensation expectations Anyone at Google know what a good ask for this role is?
Always ask for a higher number..never low-ball yourself.. ask $250k TC
Expectations is code for “what’s your current comp?” Asking directly for your current comp is now illegal in the state of CA. In my experience, asking what level you’re being considered for and the range is the best approach. Usually it is one level. But sometimes you can be between levels in which case the expected comp range is high. Obviously, you get higher pay if you get that higher level. You can double check the range on blind. Also, check with a real negotiator like a salesperson. They will tell you never state the first number if you’re playing the maximization game. That number becomes an anchor. And that’s the whole point of the CA state law. Especially if you’re a woman or minority.

Which company’s employees are most insecure?
What level?
I haven't been told the level yet. Moving to HC stage next week
Assuming you are senior level, try to ask for TC $250k/yr. Keep in mind PTMs don’t earn as much as SWEs.
