Hiring Committee at Google rejected my application for SWE. My recruiter has asked me if I would like to try for SETI (Tools and Infrastructure) now. Will I have to interview again for SETI, or will they use my last interview feedback to decide for a SETI position? Do you guys know someone who has gone this path?
Not a googler, but I don’t think so. SETI is not as easy to change to SWE, as changing teams in SWE position. So make sure you know what you are getting into. Sure there will be some cases where someone either got lucky, or was well networked , or worked hard and thinks worked for him/her. But it’s not straight forward, and can be marred with politics!
I went through the same path in December. Coming to your question, I had two additional interviews with SETIs, but better to ask the recruiter if you will have them. Regarding the transfer, both of the SETIs told me during the interviews that it is pretty easy to switch, and one of them actually is working as a front end SWE, the title is just SETI.
Thanks @peace, this was helpful.
No worries, best of luck. Also, difficulty of questions asked were the same as onsite(SWE). Mostly DS/ALGO and testing the corner cases. Hope this helps.

I thought SETI and SWE had the exact same hiring process and that it was easy to transfer between the two Insiders comments ?
