Google SRE London L6

Apr 9 6 Comments

I'm hoping to receive an offer for this role soon. But I've realised I'm so excited by the prospect I've forgotten to consider whether I should negotiate! Other companies I know it's essential to negotiate, but with Google do I just try to get my foot in the door and rely on promotion / pay rises?

Does anyone know what "good" looks like as a base salary for this role?

Also, any tips or steers on chosing a team to join? At the moment am talking to various teams and am just going to go on gut feel / how their current work pattern matches what I need. But is there more?

Huge thanks for input - can do the role but am out of my depth on changing roles!

Always try to negotiate… but without competing offer, probably won’t work….but ALWAYS TRY

just lie that you've another offer, Google is known for lowballing heavy. Don't think it's legal to ask for another offer letter in UK like they do in California either.

100% negotiate, hopefully you have a competing offer in hand. If you don't, it's honestly worth trying to get one just for the sake of negotiating. Internal pay raises are pitiful compared to what they'll throw at you during negotiations.
