Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
I just passed the hiring committee at google! My recruiter is asking me for a requested salary. I don't have any other offers (and hope to not have to spend the extra time/effort to get another). If I pick unreasonably high I think they will default to a low ball offer, and if I pick too low I leave $$$ on the table. So, how high do I go? 1. I have 4 years experience as a software developer 2. I'm working on my masters in CS and am almost 1/2 way done with a 4.0 from Georgia Tech 3. My undergrad is in engineering, but not Computer Engineering or CS. 4. Interviewed as an L4, and did very well on the interviews. I'm thinking somewhere around 250-260 - do you guys think?
Which location? 250-260k total right? How much out of it are you thinking for base?
She seemed to only ask for TC, not a breakdown about base. I guess I might as well give a specific response. It was in Sunnyvale btw, but I'm not sure if I want to go there or Seattle.

Congrats from a ga tech omcs student who is 40% done fella lol.
let us know how negotiating without competing offer goes.
When did you do your on-site? How soon did they get back to you?
I ( this is OP) got an email from the recruiter the next day saying I am going to HC and congratulations! She also called me about 10 minutes after my phone interview ended to say I did excellent and we can schedule an onsite. That was a surprising turnaround time!
Say you have a competing offer
they ask for proof
"for ethical reason I will not forward you other offers". They have no business asking for this either

If you did very well, they shouldn’t low ball.
