What is the diff, if any, btw Software Engineer and Software Developer roles at Google? Or is it just that the same role is called something else in different countries for example most of the roles in US are titled Software Engineer vs Software Developer in Canada #tech #google
I hope you don't mean application developer when you say software developer. Application development is different (shittier) when compared to software engineer.
How it’s different from Software development
Don't know man, heard it's full stack/android development kind of work, as opposed backend services developed by SWEs. Pay is shittier compared to SWEs. This is at Google, not elsewhere.
in Canada the title “Engineer” is a protected title. You have to have an engineering degree and professional accreditation to be called an engineer. You can’t have a bunch of CS kids calling themselves engineers at your company or else you will be fined. That’s why they are called software developers and not engineers.

The job market is absolutely brutal right now
They're not allowed to use the word "Engineer" in Canada, so it's called Software Developer there.
