Currently sde 2 at Amazon with about 2 years experience. Google is offering T3, but salary is lower. 172 tc. Current tc is about 200k. Google is in mountain view. Is this a low-ball offer? What category do t3 green cards go to?
It鈥檚 a good offer in terms og level. Amazon sde2 is wide range, and can map to T3/T4 depending on your experience. If you are in Seattle, your TC is much higher than Google鈥檚 tax adjusted comp, so doesn鈥檛 look good.
It feel like google offers have been normalizing these days. Where are the days of crazy comp numbers from the last two years?
With stock growth, we are used to of more TC
From Blind, they look almost bimodal lowball-to-high depending on negotiation or down leveling.
Is this the finalized offer? Wait until they come back with official number from comp team, it'd always be higher. You should get about 190k tc
T3 == SDE1 at Amazon
Not true in terms of comp. SDE2 = T3 for comp
Lower offer, level down and moving to a higher cost of living location with additional state tax. Why are you even thinking about this? Doesnt make sense.
In the long run, if you don鈥檛 see yourself working in Amazon, it may not be a bad thing. Comp takes care of itself if you perform well. It does not matter much in early stage of career, if you have other reasons to join Google.
Doesn鈥檛 mean you screw up on every other aspect a job change that matters 馃槅 Unless OP is on pivot or totally desperate to get out, this is a bad idea.
Too low. Keep in mind that the living cost (housing, state tax, daycare, etc.) is higher than Seattle. Also, getting promotion at Google is something that I've heard from several Googlers they complain about. So it's not easy to get to the next level and adjust the TC. I'd say either find a competing offer (like from FB) and negotiate, or forget about this. It's really low.
Current comp at Amazon doesn't count as competing offer? Btw, I am happy with my current team. Just wanted to try Google.
Current comp won't be considered as competing offer, if they "think" you really want to leave your current job. But if you have a fresh offer from a competitive company, they'll believe that you're not desperate for them (i.e. have other options too), so they will be much more open for negotiation.
That's lower than new grad l3, don't move
How much is new grad offer?
And Google low-balling continues. What's the deal? Stock performing poorly so they have to generate value for shareholders by cutting costs?
T3 is the entry level job at Google, similar to SDE2 at Amazon. Your green card category depends on your education, not your position.
Actually it's on the position requirement. Not education.
SDE1 (L4) is the entry level position at Amazon. SDE2 is Google T4
