Hi! Edit: Update: was able to get a counter offer, and subsequently got a bit more moneys. Off to Google I go I'm considering an offer from Google. Unfortunately I don't have counter offers yet. Plan to leave Lyft because of covid impact and potential layoffs even though I'm fairly happy here. I'm on an h1b visa, which is scarier if a layoff happens as I would have 60 days to find a job. Current TC at Lyft: 350k, 5 yoe Google Search T4 Offer: Base :160k Signon: 20k -> 30k (after negotiation) Stock: 315k -> 340k (after negotiation) Comes to about 283k -> 295ish (after negotiation) with 15% year end bonus The recruiter at Google refuses to increase numbers without a counter offer. I don't want to delay this further, and the market is a little dead currently to easily shop around. I'm wondering if I should stay at Lyft or go to safer shores at Google.
Join G if u like wlb and job security in exchange of tc drop. How is lyft in general now, everyone looking outside?
Lyft is getting better but the future is still unclear if there is a second wave. We have enough cash in the bank so the company will survive but there might be layoffs, who knows. Lyft's future directly ties to the covid situation
Sorry to hear that op. Yea it sucks and if new tc is better than lyft, it should be a no brainer. Best luck!
G offer is good for a year. Stay at Lyft since it’s more TC and you are happy with your team. Consider the G offer as a backup if something happens.
Umm. Well, I interviewed at Google last year so this is the backup situation
Do you have to stay at Lyft to get your first grant and topup?
Are you T4 at Lyft? I’m surprised your current TC is close to T5 band
I am. The TC was my first year TC, so it's more like 320 next year
Damn you make more than me and I have 10+ yoe
Come to Google for the job security. Your comp may catch up very quickly. What PA are you joining?
What's PA?
If safety is what your looking for Google feels like the place. For all other reason I would say mehhh..
What other reasons are meh? Safety and lack of chaos is the primary reason
$280k at Google will definitely be better than losing your job and getting kicked out of the country should the second wave of COVID hit
Yeah was able to negotiate with a counter in hand (updated in description). Going to G
Congratulations! What is the final offer ?

Aren't you worried about being laid-off at lyft? Do you imagine that things will get better at left, if yes then stay.
I can't say. With a second wave, things will get worse before they get better
US isn't even close to being done with the first wave yet.
