I had 2 phone interviews prior to flying to Sunnyvale from Houston for onsite. I think phone interviews went great. I received communication from recruiter very next day early morning. Had my onsite on 01/07. 2 rounds were done using hang out. Alas, the room had faulty camera so interviewers couldn't see me (I could see them). Coordinator was in the room but the interviewers said they are ok rather having room changed. There were no markers in the room. I wrote on the back of my resume and interviewer who took my SQL test took one of those papers. I realized i didn't point out one question ,which was repeated in two successive interviews, to the second interviewer. It was not a coding/algorithm/SQL question rather a technical judgement question. Later I asked this with the guy with whom I was having lunch and he told me that next time i should point it out. Interview 1 - Good Interview 2 - Good Interview 3 - Good Interview 4 - Below Average (Grilled on some tangents and I didn't provide satisfactory answer to one question) Interview 5 - SQL Test. 1st question solved in less than 2 minutes (explained it as well). For the 2nd part solved it after one hint. The guy was a junior engineer and he said I did well and took less time than him. Reached out to recruiter on 01/13 and heard she is waiting for the feedback from couple of interviewers. However she asked my availability for Wednesday 01/15 at a fixed time. Given all of these - Do you guys think i stand a chance or Wednesday meeting is for a reject? Sorry to hear that. Don’t give up and please keep trying. There are other FAANG companies offering similar positions. Apply for them or try Google again in 6 months. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/google_my-path-to-google-nada-elawad-software-activity-6623614108677877760-DlVL
Thank you !!! I wasnt really in the market. Home Depot is paying good in TX. Also we have beaten down GCP like anything. 🙂 One of my friends in Google reached out to me and referred. Quick question- Can my friend refer me again after a year? I mean both referrer and referree can be same for similar type of position?
Yes, that doesn’t matter. You can try the same combination after one year. Good luck!

Do you really think Amazon is that bad
Just because you didn’t do well on couple of questions your chances don’t become slim. It may so happen that you will be leveled down a bit but it won’t jeopardize the whole process. They need smarter people like you. For TPMs they look at an overall perspective of how well were you able to think and attack the problem statement. They evaluate culture fit and your leadership skills as well. I think based on the way recruiter reached out to you, you did well and may get an offer.
Thanks! I just got a rejection from the Recruiter. Probably Google's bar with respect to Project/Program management is higher than what I thought. I got positive feedback for Technical rounds though.
