Hi everyone, I am currently in the Team Matching phase (passed HC at L3) at Google and have found a team that wants me. I spoke to the HM and quite enjoyed my conversation with them. They seem really interested in ensuring the team members enjoy their work and have a good career at Google. I just had the following questions: 1. Considering the current limited team matching options (L3 industry hires having difficulty finding a team despite passing HC), should I go for this team? The team works on technical infrastructure and some internal tooling but I confirmed that it's a SWE position and not a SETI position (it's kind of a hybrid position due to the fact that they work on internal tooling but the title will be SWE and not SETI) and the project is a software engineering project 2. This team falls within the Cloud Org and I have heard internal transfers at Google are easy and encouraged. Would it be possible for me to move to another Org later e.g. Ads without re-interviewing? 3. As a L3 and an external hire, should I even wait for a perfect team to come along or should I focus more on the impact and the HM? Thank you.
1. Sounds bad ass imo. I'd take it. I took an L3 SWE position I don't care about because Google is Google. 2. Yea you can transfer easily if you are in good standing. It might take up to a year though because you're so new but 6 month transfers are not unheard of. 3. Think about it, it's much more likely that you can transfer into the "perfect" team if you are already in the company than you finding that team during this team matching process, or the next 3 team matching processes! Once you're in the company movement is easy. Don't be stupid just take the job, swallow your ego for 6 months, and then go work on something more deserving of your talent.
Is it possible to learn if such positions have a good WLB?
