Interviewed at G and got a thumbs up. Recruiter said feedback was solid. Per my experience I am targetting L5. Recruiter scheduled team match and one Hiring Manager gave ok but his team only has a L4. Recruiter says there are No L5 open at the moment and if I really want a L5 i will have to wait until Jan/Feb. What is the TC delta between L4/L5, can the top end of L4 match L5 TC.
I think TC difference can be big based on your interview perf. But one thing to consider, finding a good team is very hard. Internal transfer always takes precedence. Keep that in mind. What’s your YOE n how long at Apple?
When did you have your onsite interviews? Is there a limit on how many teams you can talk to or for how long you can wait looking for L5?
I have seen a couple people here recently "time out" on TM and were put on permanent hold and told maybe come back in 6 months?? Indicative of Google's recruiting pipeline getting way ahead of open headcount. It seems recruiters are constantly hunting around the open roles re-confirming with HMs on whether the HC is really available or not. It seems that approval can come and go and does not get updated. Even TM can happen but VP disapproves based on last minute budget situations. We have seen that happen. Quite the mess they have...
wait for L5. I see nothing being lost if you wait.
I feel the level is decided by HC rather than opening. If a team can only have L4 opening, it's likely a bad team doing trivial things. Not a good fit anyway. For TC, L4 can be very high given competition.

I actually like the team and the work. I was kinda leaning towards taking the L4 offer if the TC met my expectations BUT i also feel I maybe leaving $$ on the table by not pushing for L5

Your location and position you are matching for? I am in the TM queue for TPM L5 in Seattle and after 3 weeks in TM, not a peep! So I presume there is a backlog building (despite still several TPM positions posted on the careers site).
L4 is sorta entry level for you. You wanna at least be L5 given your experience.

Wait for L5, new headcounts open in the new year and even if you dont get L5 later join as an L4 but at least give some time. L4-L5 promotion will take on an avg at least 1.5 years.
