I have a phone interview scheduled with Google for a UX position. What can I expect? I assume basic process/portfolio questions, but wonder if there's anything else I should prepare myself for. Thx for any pointers!
They asked me to pull up a webpage and critique it. They asked me why google. They asked me to wireframe a chat window in google sketch.
Wow, that sounds way more challenging convo than the fun chat I had!
Did you get interview through a referral or recruiter?
Recruiter
Followup… Was fairly straightforward process questions only. Not too much portfolio review. One of the interviewers eluded multiple times to wanting heavy experience in Principle, and wanted to know background there.
Weird. What kind of design role? More of a production design or tactical one? That much focus on a tool just doesn't seem that bright if they're looking for a full fledged UX / interaction designer.
Yeah, I thought tr hat was odd too. Role was marketed/described as more 'generalist' working alongside a few others in that role as well as visual designers, researchers and content strategists. In my notes, I wrote that they are seeking to "prototype interactions / design patterns faster"… Must just have a very specific gap on their current team

My phone interview with them just went over basic questions as far as my process, asking about my current role, work history, etc. They asked me a few hypotheticals. Etc. They're looking for how you think.
Great, thx 👍🏼
