What do you think of the newly leaked videos for Google execs trying to "prevent a 2020 Trump situation" through "algorithmic fairness"? I'm totally against Trump and his administration but I feel Google has crossed the line here
That's why it's better to use duckduckgo
Which is Bing
Wait what? Why is it Bing?
If google wasn’t a monopoly this would be unfortunate but inconsequential. However, since it’s a monopoly this needs to be dealt with.
Fake videos from known discredited sources don't count.
Not discredited. There was an attempt to discredit them that was overruled in court.
I don’t get it. Why are people upset? Google seems to be trying to prevent Cambridge analytica and facebook happening again. Whomever disagrees, please explain.
Because it is literally election meddling?
How is preventing election meddling, election meddling? Maybe i am missing something.
Is this another deepfake situation?
I mean even if you hate Trump, you should realize the threat of one company controlling 2 of the biggest search engines (Google search and YouTube search) and using them for political gain. Because I assure you one day they’ll be gunning for your preferred candidate or promoting an agenda that you dislike.
Except exposing Trump lies is not political gain. It's truth. Sorry if the reality does not fit your bias.
Irrespective of who you are / what you do, I feel it's ironic for this concern to be raised by Facebook (employee). (Legit concern though)
I'm not a fan of the role Facebook played in the Trump situation of 2016. In their defense, they were negligent but non malicious in receiving foreign ad money. On the other hand, I'm sure they'd do it again to satisfy ads growth metrics. Either way, I am not proud of the company I work for.
