I have been in conversation with third party vendor for a Technical Program Manager role with Google Cloud team. I am currently full time with Cognizant and would like to know the contractors situation in Google. Although the contracting is volatile but I will consider it if i get through the final round with Google. My ultimate goal is to get hired full time with a Bay Area tech. Current location is Bay Area; Current TC $140k, Google rate is $80/Hr on W2 1. Will it add value being a contractor in Google and other Tech employers reach out to me for opportunities because of Google? 2. Will there be any opportunity down the road to become an FTE? 3. What are the risks, Pros and Cons beside removing from the project any time?
Contracting useless ..80$ is too low . Also I know people started as contractors in google are contractors for life
While working at google, Did it make a difference in receiving offers from other techs?
Maybe like 10 yrs back . Now who ever got H4EAD or GC working as program manager in google . Also 80$ is low . Health insurance will be higher . If it is software developer role then you can join ..all these PM, testing , etc are not worth if you are a US citizen ..
Join As FTE
You do realize that when you contract, you sign a non-compete agreement for X number of years so that the client (Google) can’t just hire you as FTE right? It can be 3 years so if you’re fine with being banned from working as FTE for 3 whole years then by all means go ahead.
I know a few people who applied to FTE roles while they were contractors at Google and got the job...
Question to you is, how long did they contract until they got the FTE role. If they contracted for 2 years then why bother doing that when you can leetcode during your time with another client
Where does one go to apply to Google contract roles?
Vendor reached out to me
Dud u take the role
What is your visa situation ?
Us Citizen
What are you even doing in Cognizant???
