Google cooldown

How does Google cooldown work? If you apply for some specialist position and fail, can you apply for a general SWE ? Or one failure puts you in the cooldown? What about other companies in alphabet like Waymo and youtube? Is failure in one automatically gets reflected in sister companies? #google #youtube #Waymo #Nest

6 months for different ladder, 1 yr for the same ladder

thanks. Are interviews, promotions and compensation also standardized across all the companies?

Yes. HC is same, promotions till certain level can be within PA but effort to keep it consistent

All same pool. I’d say 6 months. I often say in feedback this is an excellent candidate if they practice they’d be ready in 3 months. If they were smart / skilled / I liked them but they didn’t meet the bar because they didn’t practice

It depends on recruiter. The cooldown is not set in stone. As phe said, it's 6mo/1yr but sometimes you can come in after 9mo on same ladder and they'll let you slide.

NP, claim comes from thread where guy said he was on 1yr but recruiter let him slide 9mo after a rejection.
