Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
Had a chat with Google US recruiter, and she said Google will not interview with applicants who require a H1B sponsorship. I'm applying from Canada. But what if i first go to US with L1, and then apply for Google ? working in US on L1 makes any difference?
Well it sounds legal to not interview someone who can't legally work in the country.
You watched too much cnn, msnbc. By law, companies shall hire aliens only when they can't find legal residents with the skill sets. Companies are supposed to post LAC for H1B employees in public. Too lazy to google it?
Join Google Canada & transfer to US on L1
Hiring in h1 requires extensive waiting and random luck.
So L1 is now the only way to go to us. That sucks.
I don’t get you? AFAIK L1 is not transferable. If you come to Amazon US on a L1, Google would still not interview you because you still need H1B sponsorship.
You mean new H1b, right? They interview and process lot of H1b transfers everyday. New H1b is a tricky thing, they do it only for employees in other locations where they don’t have to wait. Only the bodyshoppers will be willing to file for a new H1b, no one else does it.
This makes me think that uscis is involved in corruption. They are making it harder for normal companies under the pretext that its harder for body shops. But in the end body shops are always good at finding loop holes or administrative tasks. What do you think?
People always file a way.
Will you want Google to wait for next year October 1st when you can start working on H1? Nope! No sane company will invest in such candidate!
You could talk to them about working in Google Canada and express interest in moving to USA
How about TN visa if you're Canadian and has a degree?
TNs are getting rejected in record numbers, its not something most companies would rely on.
Stop spreading misinformation/click bait titles. Google avoids interviewing when you are not already in US and you apply for US position.
Same thing. You can't transfer l1 so the company would have to apply for h1b for you. Green card will solve that problem however.
