Currently non-tech role, started about a year ago, before the acquisition was announced. A few months into my role I realized I really don't like what I do, and I've recently started applying and exploring other opportunities. I'd love to work at Google and wait for the acquisition to close, and I know for most people it'd be a dumb move to leave before such an acquisition. But working in my current role has been mentally draining for how unengaging it is for me and how unproductive it feels for my personal development. There also have not been any roles posted at Fitbit that interest me or that I am qualified for. My question is in regards to the internal transfer policy at Google. I know that it is recommended to be in your current role for a year to 18 months, but will my time at Fitbit count towards that? And will I immediately be able to start exploring other roles after the deal closes? In general, is this a realistic opportunity for me to pursue or are there other things that I might not be aware of? Thanks for any help. #google #youtube #nest #waymo #fitbit
Look at what happened to Motorola. Those folks did not get a freebie to jump into Google. Like Nest, you will have to interview to transfer at least initially. There were a lot of layoffs at Motorola before they were eventually sold off. Nest actually got integrated after so many years but a lot of heads were rolled in the process. https://www.zdnet.com/article/fitbit-is-doomed-why-everything-google-buys-turns-to-garbage/
