Google interview process

I had an onsite interview at Google and my interviewer said I did well. I’m going to be going through team matching before the hiring committee. Is this normal? If I have a hiring manager willing to hire me does it give me a better shot at getting through the hiring committee? Also, how is the Sunnyvale campus compared to the HQ? Do you miss out on anything by being in Sunnyvale?

Afaik that’s pretty rare. My friend had that happen too but I don’t think it’s standard practice. How’d you get so good?

So this is confusing part. I knew this was the new approach they had adopted sometime back where team match happened before HC, but I have seen a couple of blind posts claiming the opposite. Having said that if they do a team match, getting through HC would depend on the team match I guess. You won't miss anything in Sunnyvale.

I had a similar experience. Onsite included a hiring manager. That role didn't work out, but interview went well (non-SWE) so recruiter is now coordinating additional phone interviews with several other teams that have expressed interest.
