I have been interviewing with Google for a TPM role. Got offered. the role expectations & hike (post negotiations) looks good. I am being asked to join in next 30 days, stating that generally 2weeks of notice is given on the offer. while i know i can stretch the 30 days a bit (say 45-50 days), i am not sure how to make them agree to a joining date in by May end, post Amazon RSU vesting. May end joining means a period of 90 days between offer & joining date. I feel that i have worked very hard to earn those RSUs and do not want to leave them on the table, due to pressure from Google recruiter. I need inputs on how should i go about this situation. How strict is google about the joining date? Is there a possibility of them pulling back their offer? L6 TPM at Amazon L5 TPM offer at Google 10YOE
Don't give in to fake recruiter pressure.
thanks. Not sure about fake pressure, just that recruiters should know these things as trade realities and shouldnt make it a bad experience for the candidate
TC or GTFO
What team and location?
Update- I spoke about my preference for a later date of joining due to RSU vesting. After sharing few documental proofs, Google was able to match my RSUs scheduled to vest. Now joining as per their requested date :) Thanks @yoyomaaa for great advice. helped me gain more confidence!
Tell them you have the option of staying longer and getting the RSUs or you're happy to move sooner if they're willing to recoup your losses in the form of a bonus of an increased salary.
We had a back & forth 2-3 on the offer. finally agreed to a TC that was agreeable for me. Somehow joining date never came up. Now when i bring this up, i stand a risk if losing credibility (at least that’s how i am thinking abt it rt now).
If I was in your place I'd say I assumed a later joining date would be okay, and that if that's something they want to adjust and move up, you'll require additional compensation just to avoid taking a hit on your finances. Put the pressure back on them to solve your problem for you.
