“the suit, which argues Google’s hiring practices are biased against white and Asian people, conservatives, and men, will move ahead after surviving a dismissal motion from the company. In a statement, the law firm representing the plaintiffs said the suit will now move into the discovery phase.” https://www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2019/6/7/18656869/google-conservative-hiring-bias-lawsuit-dismissal-discovery
If it’s bias to be more diverse, then it’s good to be biased
They are biased. There are way more opportunities trying to force minorities into tech. It should be equal for everyone not biased to have a certain ratio of races.
So you think if it’s mostly asian and white men there is nothing wrong?
do you think it’s wrong that there are predominately mostly latino men doing tree trimming? what about Africans driving taxis and uber’s? What about women teaching and nursing?
Over 70 % of the NBA is one race. Sounds like they need some diversity and inclusion. I sure hope the people who are advocating d & I for tech will do the same for the nba.
Heard nowadays that MSFT won’t hire or promote if you are - Asian and Male. Is it true? Thinking of reaching out for a position in Azure
I never been asked which political view I have during interviews. BS
I don’t get why Tech has to be diverse. If it is predominantly asians and caucasians who clear their interview process, what’s wrong with the disproportions? As for conservatives bias, I’ve never heard Google ask for political stance, how the hell would they know that? Unless by conservative bias you mean stating clear homophobic or racist views or something, in which case Google is right to not hire. That stuff is poison in the workplace
Someone could potentially have internships or experiences relating to politics. For example, I have a friend who got offers from Facebook and an alphabet subsidiary who interned for a congressman.
^Don’t even think of blaming one company when our government is structured to create a revolving door
Equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome.
The article says “In legal filings, Google has disputed that conservatives are an identifiable class under the law. In a decision, the judge on the case said the court “indeed has doubts” about the viability of the idea, but it is, for the time being, letting the case move ahead.”. In other words more money for lawyers and Google will most likely win since no one can demonstrate the bias.
Or that subsection of the lawsuit will be thrown out. There's significant evidence of discrimination against Asians. Specifically in stem jobs.
Google biased? Really? /s
Not shocking at all.
