I got an offer from Google, about a month ago. And at the time my offer stated my base salary would be 131k. But I just got an email and talked to some other new hires (I'm not the only one) and was informed that there was a base salary increase to 142k. Would anyone have any idea why that is? This is because of the inflation rate?

Accepted at 120k / 88k rsu, got bumped up to 129k / 95k rsu without doing anything.
Got offers from Microsoft and Apple, they did not bump up their pays but were willing to negotiate for competing offers.
