I interviewed at google in march and passed hiring committee. They said to me that they don't have any position now so will give you chance in next recruitment cycle. I had other offer at that time and i accepted one. Now, Google has offered me University grad position. But they are giving me lower package than my current package. They are saying they don't compare current compensation and if i have competing offeres than they can adjust my package. I had competing offers in past but now i don't have any. What should i do?
What is the logic behind Google not considering the current compensation ? I just don't get it.
To lowball
Something doesn’t sound right here. Maybe it’s lost in translation. Google will look at current comp as if it is a competing offer.
So, If I want to join Google sometime next year, can I start interviewing now and reject any team matches if they happen immediately ?
That’s not true. The 1-year only works if you passed HC and haven’t officially rejected them (in team match for 1 year). If you reject their offer now, you will need to reinterview and come back
If Google offers you lower than your current comp, why should you consider? Stay at your companies to get more experience then come back later for get better position and TC. Joining G as new grad won’t help you much in this case except you want to hope to another job after few years.
My recruiter respected my competing offers from 6 months ago when I passed HC. Unfortunately I guess it depends on the recruiter.
