I have 10 years of experience , google is offering L4 should I consider it? I saw a couple of post in which people with 4 years experience getting L4. I am confused.

Update: Trans Coworker Stealing Breast Milk
Google has been lowballing a lot these days. If you have competing offers then use those as leverage, if not you can think about whether you are okay with what you are being offered and if it does not feel like a step backwards for you.
It definitely feels like going back 4 years
What's wrong with your current role in that case? If they are not budging and you have no other options you could turn it down. My theory is that Google is very very conservative about L5 offers because the person would have to come in and lead 2 or more engineers in a project, and the only time I've seen that happen is for roles which are extremely similar to what the person is currently doing
How many years at MSFT?
4
Level?
Location?
Bay Area
Do you mind if I ask how much is the TC for a L4 at Google in the bay area? And which position is this?
I wouldn't join as L4 for 10 yoe if i was in your place How much TC bump are you getting?
I don’t have numbers yet
What's your current level and TC breakup?
share your offer breakup
I don’t have numbers yet
Level depends on your interview performance. You must have failed the system design round, else they would have offered you L5. I joined google as L4 with 6.5 years of work ex, but was promoted to L5 in 2 years. So if you do well, you can get to L5 in less than 2 years.
This. Yoe has little to do with leveling
This is highly inconsistent. I’ve seen folks in L4 still after 4 years. My understanding, whether you get opportunity to show impact and do technical work matters. If your manager/lead/project are capable of providing such an opportunity, then it’s simpler. Otherwise you never know hire long it will take.
You will have easy path to L5 .. if salary is good go for it. If the interviews went ok and not Solid, you can get downlevel easily. Lot of times, there will be no offer if other candidates are solid.. hiring manager generally likes to get strong candidates but HC decides on level.
It's Google not Goggle 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What's your level at Microsoft? just curious
63
Is the L4 offer even comparable to 63?
Reject it. 3.5 YOE here that got L4.
2.5 yoe with L4
0 YOE got L4, don’t take it with 10 YOE, you’ll hate the work
