Happy Friday everyone! I have a google onsite for software engineer next week at Kirkland. 5 rounds are scheduled out of which I am expecting 1-2 design rounds. I am pretty comfortable with design rounds. Slower on coding rounds. 1. In the coding rounds, do they spend the entire hour in coding questions or they usually spend first 15 mins about your work etc? 2. What are my chances if I do well in design rounds and average in coding rounds? Any inputs or pointers from anyone who has gone thru the google onsite recently would be greatly appreciated.
Recently did an onsite. Had zero questions about past work. They do ask you about yourself, but I think that's merely to put you at ease before the coding kicks off. My advice would be to keep this phase as short and concise as you can so that you get more time to code.
Thanks Sekiro. Just sent you a message. Hope you can reply

Best LCOL or MCOL city?
I will give you one hint that you didn’t ask for. In coding rounds if you suspect that the question is not too difficult then you might have another question waiting for you in the same round, or maybe other follow up questions. So don’t take a very long time
You can also just ask the interviewer how many coding questions they are going to ask you.
Expect to hear a vague answer if you ask
