I’m from FB and PSC (= Google Perf) system is driving me crazy, and keeps me constantly under insane pressure. I’ve been worrying about the rating in upcoming PSC cycle, if I can meet expectation, if the things I’m working on is impactful or helpful to my PSC, etc, all these stuff all the time. Also I’m never trying to be real friends with any coworker or FB employee because I feel like every conversation could turn into a “evaluative” or “constructive feedback” talk, making me super nervous and cautious when talking to coworkers here, I feel like they are evaluating me all the time. Since Google has a similar Perf structure, e.g. twice a year, very similar rating system and bonus multiplier, just wonder do you guys worry about these stuff too? Or is your level of stress much lower than me? Really hoping to go to Google......as long as I get an offer. 🧐 E4, TC 220K
You sound like you're over thinking it. Unless you want promo asap don't worry about it, do your job and you should be fine.
You can rest and vest. NI is rare. You can stay at CME as long as you want as long as you get at least one promo to L4
As a SWE? Or in general? Thinking to swap ladder for this reason - I can’t operate under such stress and do my best work when I don’t have such pressure.
And you can always skip the Sept perf and only do the March one
Have you already got an offer?
I’ve mentioned in my post, of course not....otherwise I’ll gtfo FB.
Heard the google sde hiring is frozen at Sea? 1.5 yoe
I’m interviewing in 2 weeks. 15 yoe
I smell a sign of ni. Just be yourself. Good luck !

NI is around 1-3% for most orgs, and people are anxious about perf insofar as they hope to get promoted faster
If not worrying about the promotion, do you think Perf system stress more than those annual review companies? Since Google still does review twice a year, which I feel that’s too frequent.
Dang, 1-3% Needs Improvement score sounds like a bigger country club than Microsoft gets a reputation for
