I'm currently in the team matching stage at google for a user research position. I have met with two team mates from one team in the last 3 weeks. The recruiter is pretty unresponsive. Should I start seeking out open team positions on my own? How can I find out what teams have openings? The position was for a satellite office but I told them I'm also interested in MTV.
Did you pass the hiring committee?
Yes I passed the hiring committee. I've had two meetings over the course of two weeks with one team. They asked for a week to decide and were supposed to tell me last Friday but I've herd nothing. Last week I spoke with two other teams. I have an internal transfer offer and at this point it's looking more appealing then google as it feels like this process is going to go on forever.
Hey! I'm in this same exact stage and have had the same exact experience. I met with a team and found out after 2 weeks that they were going with another candidate. I have a contact inside Google and from what I gather when you are in this stage they still consider all other candidates (internal and those who've passed hiring committee). The process is slow (I've been trying to find a matching team for myself since June), but from what I can gather the recruiter will always have the most up to date info, even if you try seeking team positions on your own. Trust the process. That's my advice.
Oh! And random Q... I met with a team in NYC for a user research position not too long ago but was passed over... I wonder if we were trying to match for the same team? Google Cloud?
Possibly lol. How can you trust the process when the process seems to be never ending ;).
