Is it possible to interview at FB L8 if you are at G L7? Is upleveling scenario rare between these two companies?

It's extremely hard to get L8 at F and even harder for outside hire. Having said that, even if you do get it, keep in mind that the expectations are very high and the stress level is not like at Google.

  I think there was a confusion between E8 (an IC) to D1 (on the manager path). For managers you will need to show director level experience.
