3 years of SDE exp, no masters, I love backend work. Google is Google, probably the safest choice, but the team and comp is a bit meh. I don’t really know much about Dropbox besides their amazing food and the project seems cool. Opendoor is pretty interesting, met a lot of ex-Uber engineers there, do you guys think they will be the next 10x-100x startup like Robinhood? Offers are before negotiation: Google (Seattle Double Click team): 118k+220k/4+40k signon+15% bonus Dropbox (SF Paper team): 160k+280k/4+20k signon+10% bonus Opendoor (SF data engineering team): 160k+250k/4+10k signon
You seemed to be downleveled at Google. Take Dropbox and comeback to G at L4 at 300k+ TC
From being on the inside, we have our problems but we'll more than likely 10x
What makes you think so? Zillow/Redfin are both launching competitor services and Zillow even after everything they’ve done only has market cap of 7.4 billion, what makes you think OpenDoor can out grow that?
Zillow is only top of funnel search, they’ve monetized poorly historically ($7b market cap for TOF for a $25t asset class??) and risk isolating public shareholders if they cannibalize their Preferred Agent revenue by pivoting to a better business model. Redfin isolated the agent community agents and never had more than 1% market share in a market. I’d be shocked if Opendoor doesn’t triple revenue with in the next year. That already would put it roughly on par with Z.
Just bc Zillow/Redfin are launching products similar to Opendoor doesn’t mean they know what they’re doing. I’ve met some of their leadership team members and WOW they are going to make sure that company succeeds. I’m thinking about jumping ship from Lyft.
Want to interview? I'll refer you... Happy to tell you all the downsides to it (there's some pretty big ones) and you'll still be tempted to join
Share downsides please!
+1, please DM
BestGM, what are the downsides?
@bestGM What are some work life balance perks that Opendoor has?
What you mean by 250k/4 how you know its RSU worth 250k. By the way what is the conversion you using to get to 250k for Opendoor?
Voted for Dropbox because I think Paper team is better for your career growth.
