Pardon the ignorant question. My partner works at Google and he hasn't traded his vested RSU at all. (Good for him!) We now need to transfer his stocks over to Wells Fargo brokerage to qualify for their relationship discount (transfer in kind, not to sell). His rsus are all in the Morgan Stanley stock plan connect, but that doesn't appear to be a brokerage account. Curious what broker do you go with that allows for easy transfer of assets from stock plan connect? #google
ask your husband to ask himself
This should be straightforward. It's been awhile since I had goog RSUs at Morgan Stanley, but you might need to transfer the shares first to a MS brokerage account before doing the transfer. A call to MS will resolve this for sure
Thanks! He checked the internal discussion board and also contacted MS. It's surprisingly convoluted to open an account with MS. There's a bug that prevents one to do it directly from the stocks plan account. We will probably have to rely on MS support person to manually open a brokerage account
AMZN has a guide here, I would think similar process https://www.morganstanley.com/msatwork/docs/amazon/How-to-Transfer-and-Gift-Shares-out-of-StockPlan-Connect-Acct-FINAL-CRC281821.pdf
