Google's union is more of a PAC than a union

Unions typically bargain over wages and working conditions, but Google's union already said they won't do any collective bargaining, but instead want veto power over Google's customers and input into company hiring policies like race and gender. In short, this is more of a political union than a labor union.

"This is essentially a PAC, not a union. They want to collect 1% of employees' pay -- a huge amount -- to agitate against projects that don't align with their political views, which is why Project Maven features so prominently in their talking points. They want to be able to organize political action from within the company under the guise and legal protection of union activity. They've already begun trying to block police departments from being GSuite customers, cancel contracts with CPB, etc."
