recently landed to the new position at the company I really love. and got an o1 visa. thanks to blind. cant imagine that without all the info you guys shared here. best community ever ❤️ tc: 142k base + 400k in stocks with 4y vest (and due to current valuation) + 12k relocation bonus + all the rest things. yoe: 4.5 nontech role. not SF, but still Cali UPD: that’s not the first time when I get questions about visa. plz, jump on a call with a lawyer. O1 visa has a high approval rate and it’s easy to get. those who are not from US, there is an EB1 green card you can obtain in the same way as o1. typical price for o1 - 5-7k for eb1 - 12-15k
TC or GTFO! Sorry, this is blind. Congratulations
I was wondering how long it takes to this comment to appear 😅
So, TC?
how did you get an o1 visa?
I was preparing it before I signed the offer and then the company decided to issue it and support me with their own attorneys
i mean more so, how did you position yourself for it? how did you show you were extraordinary and in what field?
How did you get O1 ? Are you a near extinct bird ?
That’s a typical missunderstanding of o1 visa. I met 4 criteria: publications in media (all of them was from leading media but from 3rd world countries), leading role in past companies, high salary compered to median income of people at the same positions and a few support letters. The whole process toke me less then 1 month, since I had a lot of things done. Also, being a mentor at some world-known accelerators helped me as well.
What country are you from?
240k in non tech with 4 YoE? Damn, congrats Role and Company ?
Senior Product Growth Manager. Wouldn’t disclose the company, sorry 😐
Congratulations :)
Doesn’t an O(1) visa usually take O(n) to get approved?
Not sure what is O(n) tbh
And you are still getting O(1) ! Lucky !
Congratulations. EU member country Europe or non-E7?
Non-eu
Looks like it is LinkedIn
Why? But the it’s not LN. More like a transactional businesses
The stocks looked similar to LinkedIn’s
Congrats! Sounds like you had a ton of backup docs. Your salary looks low, though. I had a technical O1 a few years ago, and it sure seemed easy, too. But a key was that the position had to be senior and high salary (I was VP and >200k salary, in South)
Well, it depends. I will never know if an officer at USCIS counted it. But what’s even more important, it’s the past salary as a demonstration of extraordinary abilities. For that country where I was working, it was aprox top 5%. And not to mention, I’m a few steps lower than VP. Even not a lead now
Congrats.
