Need your advice - I am a Solution Architect and worked with financial services like JPMorgan, Discover, etc.. From the past two years trying to get into FAANG and got rejected by Amazon twice after onsite. I am not very technical but enough to do design solutions and to do system design. I am good at client-facing roles. Worked with Indian tech consulting companies during the initial years of career. At current org, I am an individual contributor and the next role would be dev manager which is more of project management. Not interested in project mgmt. What shall I do? Don't want to do coding/programming anymore. How can I use my domain/ financial services experience to get into top tech companies? or shall I try something else? Tech skills: Digital Transformation (AWS Cloud, SaaS-based solutions such as Salesforce, Pega, BPM, etc.) YoE 14 TC: 190K + 20% Bonus / Chicago
Get a CSM and become a certified Scrum Master of Agile Coach. You’re already “technical”. Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches are not project managers, but some companies may blur the lines with the role, while others won’t. Another option is to become a trainer. Teach others what you know and get paid very well.
I’m CSM certified but agile coach roles are not good paying and also dont see much growth in the role.
What about Bloomberg? I think they could appreciate people with your skills actually. Offtopic is your TC typical outside FANG? I find it a bit low
I’m not with FANG and yes, it is less. What kind of roles you recommend to check in bloomberg?
You’re not interested in project management but you don’t want to code anymore either? Why not to both? If it’s just because you feel you can’t pass the interviews but like the job, try an interview coach / interview prep site. If you really don’t want to do either... Since you like client facing roles, most financial services companies have consulting arms that bridge between data sci/product and top clients. Have you also considered roles like architect, technical program manager? You could always switch laterally where you work now then work your way into FANG. Good luck.
I have no advice to give but I got dinged at AMZN on Christmas Eve...what a gift. Do you feel as if your second time around interviewing was better than your first?
Yes, much better and I was hoping for an offer but seems senior position with big on LPs.
